HIGHLAND DANCE RULES

1. Registered Highland Comp. Number: NSW 17/2021

2. Conducted under the rules and conditions of the R.S.O.B.H.D. – A.B.H.D.I.

3. STEPS: Fling 4; Sword 2+1; Seann Triubhas 3+1;

    Lesser known and National Dances 4 steps, Irish Jig 3 & 1 Finishing Step

4. Registration Number - All performers must quote registration number on entry forms.

5. Entrants dance at their own risk.

6. Registration cards are to be presented.

7. Amalgamation of age groups will be at the discretion of competition organisers and subject to entries received.

8. Unauthorised use of cameras, imaging and digital devices is prohibited, including recording using mobile ‘phones. It is prohibited to use any device capable of recording or transmitting visual images without the organiser’s permission. Following the awards parents may photograph their own child or other children with parental permission but be highly aware that there must not be other children in the shot whose privacy must be protected. (if applicable) as Organisers of this event, we plan to photograph winning competitors for the purpose of posting on our website or Facebook page. If anyone wishes to opt out of this process, please let us know.

RULES FOR OWN CHOREOGRAPHY SECTION

a. A group choreography competition is open to registered dancers, the age groups to be set by the organiser.

b. Content should consist primarily of movements from Highland, National, Hornpipe, and Jig books.

c. Maximum five (5) minutes time limit - to include entrance and exit of competitors and setting up and removal of props.

d. Teams may use props during their performance, either static or non-static, but live animals are not permitted.

e. A minimum of two (2) and a maximum of five (5) dancers.

f. Music may be live or pre-recorded and may include vocal or percussion selections, but must be predominantly Scottish or Celtic in style.

g. Music may be provided by the competition organiser.

h. Costumes must follow the theme and content.

i. No separate prizes for costumes etc.

j. Teams should consist of: (a) One (1) school only; (b) more than one (1) school, in which case, the teacher/choreographer must abide by the three (3) month teaching/judging rule.
